Hi, we’re Core Matter

We design climate solutions that reach people. We believe all communities, regardless of economic, social, or racial makeup, have the insights, resources, and know-how to design solutions for a healthier planet.

Our communities work best when we all think critically beyond our own roles and expertise, and when we feel agency to create the change we want to see. So that’s how our team works. We use a human-centered design process, which allows experts from different fields—scientists, psychologists, engineers, designers, and community members—to contribute perspectives and research. We each bring our individual expertise and love of collaboration.

Dana Hoffman

Policy Expert, Reasearcher and Outreach

Dana is committed to climate action, and has 10 years of experience developing policies and plans for local jurisdictions to help change behavior and reduce their climate emissions.

She is well versed in complex technical and policy problems and developing solutions that can result in systemic changes. She brings her experience in research, local government policy, and urban planning to the team. She holds a Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Shannon McGill

Designer, Strategist and Coordinator

Shannon loves how design thinking provides a clear process to imagine and create an equitable, sustainable world together.

She brings user experience (UX) design and community-driven processes to our projects. She holds a BA in Visual Communication and a BS in Community Health from KU.

Stephanie Welter Krause

Designer, Strategist and Project Manager

Stephanie has spent her design career unifying her passion for sustainability and strategic design, working with a range of corporate clients and non-profits. She holds a BFA in Communications Design from the Pratt Institute.
